I've been in a pretty bad state of mind for the past little while. The end of summer always triggers my anxiety horribly, and I've been spending my nights terrified of going back to school and regretting not doing more with my summer.
So I thought that instead of focusing on the bad, at least for tonight, I'd force myself to think of the positive and write myself a "list of good things". Things to look forward to, and to be thankful about, and to be just plain happy about.
---
#1 I've seen more of this wonderful country this summer than I have all of my life.
#2 I finally saw Coldplay and it was one of the best nights of my life.
#3 I've reconnected with an old friend and found that we're just as close as we've always been.
#4 Though it may have been thrown way off of schedule, I've finally started redoing my room.
#5 I'll be studying subjects I care for this year, and hopefully subjects that I'll excel in.
#6 I'll have so many chances to improve my photography this year.
#7 Maybe I'll catch the writing bug again this year, and hopefully it'll stick around.
#8 If all goes well, my boyfriend will finally be coming to visit in just a few months.
#9 I am completely in love with an adorable goofball.
#10 Fall is just around the corner, and I'll actually be able to enjoy it this year.
#11 I'll be able to wear long sleeves and cute jackets and scarves again!
#12 I've discovered my own style even more this summer
#13 I'll finally be getting a job soon, and I'll be able to provide a bit more for myself.
#14 It won't be long until I can drive!
#15 I have a fairly decent chance of becoming yearbook editor this year, and if I do I'll have an achievement all to myself.
#16 After this year, I'll never have to worry about taking math again!
#17 My favourite band is releasing a new album in a matter of days!
#18 I can start spending an hour a day discussing literature and life and all of those amazing things again!
#19 Even if it doesn't always feel like it, my life has improved drastically in the past few months.
#20 And best of all, I'll soon be able to really truly spend time with the love of my life. Even if only for two weeks.
Hi Ren!! Sorry it's taken me so long to reply - I've just moved house and my internet connection is terrible! Firstly - thankyou for a such a lovely comment on my 35mm photos - I'll reply to that properly in a second…
ReplyDeleteI completely agree with you about the end of summer and anxiety getting worse. I'm starting school all over again in September, and I had dreams of a big Last-Summer-Of-Freedom which turned out to be full of work, and stress, summer projects and moving house. Sigh! But a list of good things is such a good way to counterbalance bad feelings! (urghh how dumb do I sound?! hah) it makes you appreciate all the good things!
Now, regarding 35mm photography - all my firework photos were taken with a regular point-and-shoot 35mm film camera, not an SLR, not even a pretty, vintage point-and-shoot, but one of the new-ish ones from the 90's, it used to be my dads - and super cheap film. I was really lucky with how those photos turned out! Most of the film photos on my blog are taken with an old Pentax p30 and either cheapy 35mm film, or black and white film from the lomography shop. I also shoot with an APS camera, using expired film that I buy on ebay :)
I have written a complete book here! haha. But I hope it helps! Have a good day! Ax
